Can you give me some tips for oven cleaning?

Good morning, I would like to make an accurate cleaning of my kitchen appliances. I remember that my aunt told me to clean the fridge with vinegar, which has a disinfectant power but I cannot remember how to clean my bult-in oven. Can you give me some tips? It is quite dirty! Thank you.

Usually I clean my microwave oven using a paste made by mixing water and bicarbonate. Apply the mix on the whole surface of the oven. Let sit overnight and the next morning remove the dirt by rinsing with warm water using a brush or a spatula. Excellent results!

There are many products on the market intended to clean your oven, your microwave or your appliances in general but they are all chemicals and unsafe, and not absolutely essential because you can clean them using the natural ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and salt. Make a mixture with:

  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of baking
  • 1 cup water

This formula is suitable for descaling food residue from the oven walls, thanks to the known of the abrasive properties of baking soda and salt. Mix ingredients together to form a paste. Pass the mixture on all the sides of the oven, using a damp cloth and remove dirt. Let the mixture sit for an hour and rinse thoroughly.

To degrease your oven there is nothing stronger and better than lemon, an excellent natural degreaser. Take 2 big lemons, cut them in half and squeeze out the juice over the whole inner surface of the oven. Put the remaining part of the lemons in a baking pan with some water and leave it into the oven for about 30 minutes at 350°F. When the water reaches the boiling temperature, the steam it releases helps to remove the dirt. Once you turn off the oven, let it get cool and using a sponge, wipe off the dirt and use the heated water mixed with lemon to complete the cleaning. This will give your oven a good smell of fresh, much better than vinegar.
