How Do I Find the Right Electrician?

For the safety of my new home, I would like to be sure that the electrical wiring is in good condition since the beginning. For example, I perfectly know that faulty wiring in the house could cause serious damage in a home such as a short circuit or an electrical fire. I just moved into a new build house and found that there is a small problem with the wiring, indeed. For this reason, I am now looking for a qualified electrician to ensure the safety of my home since I am afraid that this simple electrical circuit can damage the electrical appliances in the new build house. How do I know which electrician will do the best job and how do I find the most competent one?

A competent electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures ensuring that work done is in accordance with all relevant codes. I suggest you spend some time conducting in-person interviews with as many potential electricians as possible. In my opinion, you also have to consider that the hourly rate electricians charge varies by specialty, general location, nature of the job and the years and level of experience the electrician can prove.

I also suggest you to have a face-to-face interview with selected electricians reviewing their credentials, experience and certifications. You can also use the Web to get more updated electricians’ salary information online, but in most cases, the hourly rate electricians charge will be discussed during the interview depending on the type of work being done.

You can research and compare electricians’ salary ranges online before hiring them and find truly accurate information about their different areas of specialty. Like other contractors, indeed, electricians also specialise in one field or the other and their rates will differ depending on their field of expertise. When using the services of an electrician for the first time, you can also request sight of references or ask someone you trust (family members, friends or neighbours) for recommendations to be sure you chose a skilled and reliable electrician.
