How many types of light bulbs are there?

I'm renewing the lighting system of my house and I'd like to know something more about the different types of light bulbs that you can use now, especially after the European laws about energy saving. Moreover, I'd like to create different atmospheres in the different rooms. What light bulbs would you suggest to use?

As you said some governments have fortunately passed some laws to improve the energy efficiency of light bulbs. Technology is so high today that it 's possible to save a lot of energy and also a lot of money by changing your old incandescent light bulbs with new compact fluorescent lamp or LED light bulbs.

The most common energy saving light lamps are Fluorescent light bulbs that consume more ore less ¼ of common incandescent lights. I have got them in my house except in the kitchen where I have led light bulbs. LEDs (light-emitting diode) consume even less (just to give you an idea, half of Fluorescent lamps). Moreover, you can find them in many colours and the light they produce is very warm and pleasant. Moreover, they are mercury-free.

I agree with the use of Led lamps. They are efficient and allow to spare money.  As for the bedroom I suggest you to use dimmable light bulbs to create a cosy lighting style especially in your bedroom. You can find fluorescent, led or halogen dimmable lights. Choose the one you like most and then enjoy yourself manipulating the lights to create different lighting effects according to the occasion!
